Happy Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is meant to be a celebration of love. Most people consider the original story of St. Valentine; however, to be utterly unromantic. The story goes that St. Valentine refused to deny Christ before the emperor Claudius, resultantly he was beheaded. However, there is more to the story than that of a simple martyrdom. At the core of the gruesome martyrdom is a story of divine romance and grace.

St. Valentine is brought before a group of men, in which Claudius is present. He’s been causing a bit of a public stir in Rome and Claudius wants to know what’s going on. St. Valentine boldly declares Christ as Lord and the Roman gods as mere creations of men to the group of men. Claudius, after hearing St. Valentine, applauds him for his wisdom and public speaking ability. Nothing really dramatic happens; however, then the jailer of the city decides to speak up against St. Valentine. The jailer says that Claudius has been tricked into betraying his own people by St. Valentine! Claudius suddenly quickly changes his mind to protect his pride and position and decides that St. Valentine must be beheaded. Now St. Valentine’s boldness in proclaiming Christ as Lord is pretty amazing; however, an even more amazing miracle of love happens in the prison before he is beheaded.

According to The Legenda Aurea (The Golden Legend) by Jacobus de Voragine, St. Valentine arrives at the prison and finds that the jailer’s daughter is deaf and blind. The jailer says, “You say that your God is light. My daughter has been blind for a long time. If your God lets my daughter hear and see, I shall believe in Him.” So St. Valentine prays and the daughter is healed and receives sight. Everyone in the jailer’s household is saved. What a truely amazing testimony of God’s love pouring out through a simple man. St. Valentine, condemned to death by this jailer’s statement to Claudius, chooses to love this family unto death by the grace of God and, as a result, the spiritually blind and physically blind saw. It wasn’t by wise words or good public speaking ability that the lost were brought home into the arms of God; it was simply by love from a man who chose to give up everything for love.

God’s love is genuinely the most powerful and also the most underrated and misunderstood gift to mankind that He’s ever given. Many people have heard that His love was dying on a cross for our sins; however, many Christians and non-Christians have not understood or experienced that there is so much more than just that. A good friend and spiritual father to me once told me that he had a revelation from God. He was brought to the cross again and God told him that he doesn’t even know one millionth of one percent of what happened on the cross. His death on the cross was not just to wipe our slate clean, it was also to give us an abundant and unlimited inheritance. His love desires reconciliation, full restoration, and an eternal relationship. Eternal means there is always more. His love looks like more than most of His children have chosen to access and if we don’t access His love then we have nothing to pour out. His love looks like something, so our love must looks like something. It must look like something to the broken, to the orphans, to the widows, to your friends, to your spouses, to your family, to your children, and to every single one of God’s children. There is a global famine for the love of God and He’s given every single one of His children the calling and the ability to feed the hungry. Two challenges for this Valentine’s Day, what does His love look like and are you willing to give up everything for love?

At the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013, Father God brought a group of His children from various different parts of the world together in Hong Kong to celebrate His goodness. Personally, it was a truely miraculous evening. Three of the other children at this worship party happened to also be Iris Ministries family. Even though I’ve never met them before and did not find out they were Iris family until I arrived, the family of God truely is a beautiful and joy filled thing. During the course of the evening, Ollie Ip and myself both received this prophetic word for 2013. Claim this one for yourself for 2013.

The Adventure

Now living with three amazing sons of God in the Gethsemane House of Prayer - Kathmandu, Nepal; two of whom recently came off the street and have come home to the Father’s House. One came home exactly three weeks ago, was baptised just last week, shared his testimony and received the gift of tongues at the Iris Nepal Banquet House Church this week, and is currently absolutely loving barista coffee training. I’ve learnt more information and drunk more coffee in these last three weeks than in my entire life. His exams to graduate barista training and get a barista license are over the next two days. Pray for him as he takes his exams and as we help him look for a job. The other son came home two days ago and is the first son’s ‘brother,’ they ran away together from a home and looked out for each other on the street. Now they’re my brothers and Daddy’s looking out for all of us. Pray for him as he starts music and english classes tomorrow. Also pray that he encounters God powerfully in this restful season before entering a proper school when the Nepali school year starts in April. I’m so blessed and privileged to be in the presence of royalty and I’m so thankful and honoured that Daddy has brought these brothers into my life and allowed me to be part of their lives. I’m also incredibly thankful for my brother Isaac who has been living with us in Gethsemane. His wisdom, joy, worship, passion, love, patience, and grace has just created an atmosphere of worship and peace in Gethsemane that has been an absolutely incredible blessing to have during these ground-breaking stages of building the foundation for Daddy’s incredible vision for Gethsemane.
Daddy’s taken me on a incredible wild journey from my original vision of creating simple places of intimacy, presence and glory around the world into something so much greater. It expanded from that simple vision into a vision of also creating sending centres for prayer warriors, in the spirit of John the Baptist and Daniel Nash, to go before and prepare the way, with bent knees and laid down lives, for carriers of the revival. However, God’s vision wasn’t complete. Gethsemane now is also becoming a place where rescued sons and daughters are going to be released into their dreams and destinies by growing up physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually near the presence and glory of God! Please partner and pray for us as Father God releases this dwelling place. A place where his presence and glory dwell, receiving adoration and praise day and night, and a place for His unloved, broken, abandoned, rejected, and neglected royal sons and daughters to call home. Revival is coming as love is awakening in the hearts of the Nepali children of Daddy God. A generation is arising with the desire to find out what their Father is actually like. The desire in the Nepali bride to gaze eternally into the eyes of Jesus and be lost in love is rapidly growing and soon will become utterly insatiable and consume the hearts of every person in this nation. But, the truely humbling and beautiful part of it all is that it’s all starting from a few bent knees, closed eyes, and open palms of children who were one lost and forgotten by the world, hidden away in the darkness of the streets of Kathmandu after shop lights and street lights have faded; but, now have been found and brought out of the shadows and into the light of His glorious love.

The feeding of the five thousand is a marvelous story in which we find the wonderful principles of brokenness.

The loaves and fish represent our lives. Andrew said: “What are they among so many?” Logically, it was not enough for the multitude, but the point was not the loaves and the fish, but rather what the Master could do with them. It is not what you can do; it is what Jesus can do with you when you surrender to Him. God takes that which appears to you as nothing, He blesses it, breaks it, and multiplies it for a blessing to thousands.
